Special Community Event: Second Annual Mother-Daughter Tea

As a gift to our local community SEHA is once again hosting a special event for twelve young ladies selected by principals of Roxbury schools. They and their mothers are being invited to an elegant tea at Shirley Place. This event was inspired by the ante-bellum tradition favored by Caroline Langdon ”Madam”  Eustis who frequently hosted tea parties for young girls at Shirley Place.

Governors, Overseers and dedicated SEHA members come together to provide traditional tea sandwiches and sweets as well as serve tea. This year the event will feature an appearance by “Madam Eustis”.  Overseer and former Executive Director Patti Violette will re-enact Governor Eustis’ wife, who was legendary for her elegant and lavish social events. Ms. Violette is currently the Executive Director of the USS Albacore Submarine and Museum in Portsmouth, NH.
