The Shirley-Eustis House Association
Mission Statement
The Shirley-Eustis House Association exists to preserve, maintain and interpret the Shirley-Eustis House and grounds as a museum for the education and enjoyment of the public. The Association seeks to engage the broadest community in understanding the role of Shirley Place, since its construction as a Royal Governor’s mansion in 1747, as it reflects the beginning of our nation and the history of Roxbury and Boston.
Governance and History
Founded in 1913 by preservationists Lillie B. Titus, William Sumner Appleton and others, the Shirley-Eustis House Association is to actively managed by a Board of Directors who serve as fiduciaries. In addition to ensuring sound fiscal management, our Directors guide community relations work, long term planning initiatives, and ongoing preservation of our buildings and grounds. The Association’s Board of Governors serves in an advisory role and enhances our community engagement. We welcome inquiries from residents of Boston who are interested in serving on either of our Boards or in any volunteer capacity. Contact us at director@shirleyeustishouse.org, or 617-442-2275.
