The Juneteenth Freedom Cookout

  • Shirley-Eustis House 33 Shirley Street Boston, MA, 02119 United States (map)

The Juneteenth Freedom Cookout returns to Shirley Place for its second year!

We welcome the community to join us, as well as our partners Black.Brown.Boston and For Black Girls, as they host the Juneteenth Freedom Cookout on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024 from 10am - 5pm.

The Freedom Cookout

Check out the lower lawn and Carriage House for a free cookout celebrating Juneteenth and honoring those who were enslaved at this site almost 200 years ago.

Black.Brown.Boston will provide free food, lawn games, entertainment, a free book fair, and an opportunity to shop and support the small businesses tabling at our Black Vendor Market.

While slots for ticketed tours of the Mansion are completely full, walk-ups will be accepted at the door to fill spots that open up on the day of the event. We also encourage you to explore the grounds and find the memorial stones created by local artist SidMarie Arroyo to honor five Africans enslaved at the site.

TICKETS ARE ONLY NEEDED FOR THE TOURS OF THE MANSION - NO TICKET IS NEEDED TO ATTEND THE EVENT. IT IS FREE!

THE WORLD RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT ON THE UPPER LAWN

Black.Brown.Boston is leading an attempt to break the world record for THE LONGEST SOUL TRAIN LINE this September - and they will be rehearsing the attempt on Juneteenth! Save the time and date!
